VoIP Fundamentals for Service Providers
Computer-Based Training (CBT)
In this course we will introduce
some fundamental concepts and components that are important when discussing
VoIP such as Session Initiated Protocol and H.323. We will look at a typical
carrier network and define the components needed for a VoIP application,
specifically at softswitches, media gateways, session border controllers,
and various servers that may be present in the network, and define the
roles of each one. We will also identify vendors of these devices, and
indicate interoperability with ADTRAN equipment where applicable. We will
discuss security issues in the VoIP network. We will look at solutions
for these security issues, focusing on TLS, or Transport Layer Security,
and SRTP, or Secure Realtime Transport Protocol.
