Overview of VoIP
Computer-Based Training (CBT)

In Part I of this course we will discuss a variety of aspects of Voice Over IP technology, all of which relate to the ADTRAN OS and the various AOS-based products. This course is meant to be a generic discussion of Voice Over IP topics that apply to the AOS-based products, as well as to most other Voice Over IP solutions.

The topic areas to be covered within Part II are: SIP (Session Initiated Protocol); H.323 - the ITU standard for videoconferencing over local area networks and packet-switched networks; MGCP (Media Gateway Control Protocol); CODECs: which help to determine how voice sounds due to the fact that it samples the voice pattern and turns it into packetized information and MOSscores which are used to judge voice quality. Finally, PoE (Power over Ethernet) will be discussed and the ability it provides to directly power a desktop VoIP telephone.
